Leo Ticheli & Company, working only in film, opened its doors in 1980. At that time, there were few production or post-production companies in the Southeast. Leo cut & spliced the film himself or traveled to edit in expensive New York post-production facilities.

In 1982 the company expanded to become Alabama's first vertically integrated production company, changing its name to Leo Ticheli Productions. We soon bought our first video camera and opened two edit suites. With the digital revolution of the eighties, our company was able to achieve the same high-quality results formerly possible only in larger markets.

These new technologies also allowed creative growth. In 1987 the Birmingham Ad Club honored Leo with the prestigious Silver Medal Award, a crowning achievement in a continuing string of ADDYs and TELLYs.

Leo Ticheli Productions has been at the forefront in adopting new production technologies. We were the first all-digital facility in Alabama, owned the first BetaCam & Digital BetaCam cameras in Alabama, and owned the first Avid in the entire Southeast. We've continued this philosophy as an early adopter of the Red One 4K HD Cinema Camera and Panasonic HD VariCam, and we were the first in Alabama for HD post-production.
